That Wānaka Tree

I was scrolling through my IG when one post caught my eye — a tree. Because the picture was so beautiful, I read the caption. It’s about a famous tree in NZ called the Wānaka Tree. So, I did some research, and here’s some interesting info. A willow tree grows at the edge of Lake Wanaka, on the South Island of New Zealand. It may just be a tree, but it gained popularity among tourists due to its photographic appeal, with a mountainous backdrop and its stunning reflection in the water. Its fame soared when photographer Dennis Radermacher won the New Zealand Geographic Photograph of the Year in 2014. It goes back to the 1930s when a farmer planted willow branches into the ground to make fence posts. It was meant to be just a fence post, part of a line to stop animals from wandering around the lake’s edge. But nature had other plans. That branch took root and grew into a tree. Against all odds, and unbelievably, it is now one of the most photographed sights in New Zealand tourism and has g...

Casual Insights: ESG and Malaysia Business

In today's business world, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) is not just a term; it's a game-changer. It's reshaping how companies do things, from how they run their day-to-day operations to the way they invest money and build connections in society. ESG considerations are no longer optional; they are integral to modern business practices. This shifts businesses towards a more mindful way of operating, investing, and being part of the community.   When we talk about the "E" in ESG, we're looking at how a company affects the environment. This includes areas like carbon emissions, energy efficiency, waste management, climate change, and deforestation.   When we talk about the "S" in ESG, we're uncovering how a company connects with society. This encompasses fostering diversity, ensuring fair labour practices, supporting community initiatives, and upholding human rights. The "S" reveals the social footprint or sheds light on the...

PJ Eco Recycling Plaza

Walking into PJ Eco Recycling Plaza recently felt like stumbling upon a hidden spot. After a brief glance at its Facebook page, I noticed that most posts featured visitors from corporates, schools, and NGOs. The page mentioned, it is a government building and a one-stop learning centre. I began to wonder if individuals like myself could also come and donate recyclable items commonly used at home. Intrigued, my friend and I decided to visit on a Sunday, not expecting much but hoping to see what types of recycling bins were available so we could return another time to drop off our recyclables. Upon entering, there are racks of preloved items such as toys, clothes, and kitchenware, all being sold at incredibly low prices. My friend couldn't resist and ended up purchasing a cubic toy for just RM1 and a domino board game for RM2. Curious, we began to explore, discovering that the public could freely access the exhibitions or sections within the building. They even have a second floor. W...

Sustainable Homes: Embracing the Green Building Initiative

A green building initiative is about building or renovating in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner. It involves using practices that reduce the building's impact on nature, save energy and water, and create healthier spaces for people.   Here's a layman-style example of a green building initiative: Let's say a company decides to construct a new home. As part of their green building initiative, they incorporate several environmentally friendly features into the design and construction process.   1. Energy-efficient appliances: The company installs energy-efficient appliances, such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioning units, that are designed to consume less electricity. These appliances are designed to minimise electricity usage, resulting in decreased utility expenses for homeowners.   2. Renewable energy systems: As part of their commitment to sustainability, the company integrates renewable energy systems like solar panels or wind turbines into...

Women In The Clouds Of Climate Change

In rural areas, the women wear many hats for a household chores such as cooking, washing, farming or harvesting. Their lives already difficult as it is to secure clean water and food for daily consumption.  Hence, climate change hit them harder as they depend on natural resources to provide for their families, albeit horrendous living.  Flood or drought kills their source of livelihood, both food for consume or source of income. To restart, they need money and to regrow their crops, need time.  While gearing up again from post natural disaster, the impact is harder on women to work perhaps double the effort to supply for their families. The impact of climate change on the indigenous women health and economy are paramount. Motivational speech - Health is Wealth

“I can’t do this anymore.” In such a busy life, at one point of moment do we say these words at least once? What happen if we say too many times? If you let your body spiral down with feeling tired, without so much giving yourself a rest, you’re going to take a toll on your health. Work is good. Overwork is not.  You may think this is temporary but if you don’t give your body and mind some time to “switch off” from doing endless work, eventually you have to deal with burnout. It may not be seen at first, but over time your energy depleted, you feel very exhausted and slowly building up stress. Your work quality plummeted, your motivation rolling downhill. Soon, your life becomes disrupted and unbearable. As much work is important, health is paramount.  “I can’t do this anymore.” You say it again. Your physical, mental and emotional wellbeing are interwoven with the underlying importance of health. You cannot do work if you down with fever. You cannot do work if you pent ...

Our Beautiful Nature

From the sound of waterfall, To the creaking of bugs, There lie a person, in a hammock.  With hands behind the head, legs crossed. Unwind, without care in the world. How calming the decibels of nature, In the ears of a traveller, Away from high pitched tones, Hazards of much pollutions.  No matter how luxurious you are, Human always come back to nature. To find peace and serene, To unwire the hectic, busy life, To reset and reboot. We return to natural beauty, Presenting before our eyes as nature gratis. Preserve and conserve the earth, we shall, For generations to come. #poem #climatechange #naturelovers

Keganasan Rumah Tangga : Isyarat Tangan Tolong Saya!

3D Printing & Sumbangan Kepada Masyarakat Sosial
