That Wānaka Tree

I was scrolling through my IG when one post caught my eye — a tree. Because the picture was so beautiful, I read the caption. It’s about a famous tree in NZ called the Wānaka Tree. So, I did some research, and here’s some interesting info. A willow tree grows at the edge of Lake Wanaka, on the South Island of New Zealand. It may just be a tree, but it gained popularity among tourists due to its photographic appeal, with a mountainous backdrop and its stunning reflection in the water. Its fame soared when photographer Dennis Radermacher won the New Zealand Geographic Photograph of the Year in 2014. It goes back to the 1930s when a farmer planted willow branches into the ground to make fence posts. It was meant to be just a fence post, part of a line to stop animals from wandering around the lake’s edge. But nature had other plans. That branch took root and grew into a tree. Against all odds, and unbelievably, it is now one of the most photographed sights in New Zealand tourism and has g...

Glamping Budget RM165: Apa Yang Best, Apa Yang Kurang?

Weekend lepas pergi glamping kat area Pedas/Rembau. Pergi pun tak letak expectation sangat, so kurang rasa kecewa dengan condition kat sana. First impression agak off sikit sebab khemah ada banyak tompok-tompok hitam. Fuhhh nasib baik wangi! That part really compensated a lot. Cuma kalau nak ambil aesthetic photo tu memang tak dapat la sangat sebab khemah tu honestly tak cantik. Dari segi facilities macam archery dengan ping pong—peralatan tak cukup, net ping pong pun rosak, kena adjust sendiri. Senang cerita, facilities memang tak maintain. Tapi bonfire dia best jugak walaupun... sekejap sangat. Macam, 10 minit je :) Baru nak feeling, api dah tinggal abu. Nak ambik gambar pun rushing hahaha. Lepas tu ada movie screening dekat open space. I think konsep dia menarik, tapi again, alas tikar yang disediakan nampak lusuh. I end up duduk kat buaian sambil tengok, tapi bertahan 20 minit ...

Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery : Not Just About History

Sometimes you want to go out but you are so bored with shopping malls and want to do something different. Now here is the place that you should consider to visit if malls are not your outing spot for the weekend. Check out  Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery and I promise it is not a mundane place. Plus point, it is FREE entrance! Can walk in, no longer compulsory to book prior to visit. Only for group booking of more than 20 pax are compulsory. There are 6 galleries to observe and the venue is children friendly. They even have children’s gallery. What you need to know:- §  Though you can walk in, still need to register there. §  Parking is RM5. You can still go there by LRT Bank Negara or KTM Bandaraya. Though the walk seems to be bit far in my opinion due to a bit hilly pave for 10-15mins walk. §  A quick spot check on your bags/ hand carry. §  You cannot bring bags in the venue. There are free lockers to put away the bags or just leave i...

Super Saigon - mission to satiate my craving for a bowl of pho

Quite a few times I went to Super Saigon in TTDI for its delicious pho and iced coffee. I always ordered these. After Covid, I forgot about this place and one of these days, the memories of having hot beef noodle soup came clouding in my head. It had been years.  One day, when my friend and I were in Jalan Semarak KL, we thought of having lunch in some restaurant around. Vietnamese pho came to mind again.  When I ‘googled’ the branches… Yeay! There is one in Ampang and it is around 15 minutes away.  Since we went on Sunday, parking was not a hassle. This was our first time eating at Super Saigon Ampang and we loved the ambiance. The place is bigger than the one in TTDI and less crowded. We loved the feel of it already. I ordered the long craving of pho. I thought I wanted iced coffee but there was another drink of coconut iced coffee. Since I like to try and explore new taste, I ordered the drink. The pho taste was consistent as to what I remembered. Some restaurant...

River Of Life and other murals

During Chinese New Year, a friend and I pergi Masjid Jamek untuk tengok River of Life. Kalau turun LRT dekat Pasar Seni, kene berjalan sikit ke depan. Kami pilih stop sini sebab nak breakfast di Café Beskal. Kawan kata port orang-orang naik basikal makan breakfast, jadi deco dia pun ada basikal lama. Kami memang dedicate hari tu hari jalan-jalan KL. Masa tu dah tengah hari. Panas ya! Tapi dah alang-alang kami lawat jugalah. Bila lagi nak lawat, kan? Tapi kami terlepas untuk lihat kolam ikan at one corner of the sidewalk, close to a bridge sebab kami tak nampak semasa berjalan ke arah Bangunan Sultan Abdul Samad.   Boleh tengok waktu malam pula macam mana view River of Life nanti. Plan asal, k...

DESARU 3 Hari 2 Malam

Lama sangat simpan short sharing nih..bulan Oktober tahun lepas, saya dan keluarga pergi ke Desaru untuk cuti-cuti Malaysia selepas lama kita PKP. Kami tidur di Westin Hotel 2 malam. Trip kali ni memang dah siap-siap nak santai dan makan sedap. Maybe sebab dah lama tak bercuti, I feel so relieved and excited untuk percutian kali ni. Lobi Westin Hotel besar and I can see the impression of an open space concept. You boleh rasa angin laut, berangin sungguh.   Laut di Westin Hotel adalah private beach. No wonder nampak bersih dan terjaga. How do I know? So kenalah bawa duit poket lebih sikit. Dua hari kat sana, dua hari jugak mandi laut and pool.  Makan malam di salah satu r...

Travel cara tak bajet tapi tak mahal, I panggil intermediate traveller

Disclaimer: Ini hanyalah sharing santai peribadi. Saya tidak menjaga grammar. I bukan budget traveller tetapi bukan juga yang jenis kayangan. Selalu tengok sharing dalam internet tip travel orang tight budget atau orang loaded spend. So where does people like me share the tips? Bila my friends tanya, I selalu cakap I tak bajet tapi tidak lah a big spender. So lama-lama term intermediate traveller word I guna, kerana kita di tengah-tengah, senang nak explain kat orang lain. Ini adalah trip orang single. Limit aktiviti sehari I don’t like travel in a rush, semua benda nak buat dalam sehari. Been there done that, and I ended up tak ingat sangat apa yang I buat and half of the time rasa tak puas. I lebihkan masa bangun lambat apabila masuk hari ketiga, keempat kerana b...
