Social Driven Program During Pandemic

Social driven landscape has been growing in recent years in Malaysia, more so during Covid-19 pandemic. Under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) which consists of 17 pillars, many NGO or non-profit organisation trying to uphold at least one of these pillars in their mission. Right now, we can see the rising of charities providing food aids to the underprivileged recipients that impacted from losing jobs to survive in this challenging time. This is supporting one of the SDG goal, zero hunger.

Food Aid Foundation, The Lost Food Project and Yayasan Food Aid Malaysia among the NGO that supporting the underprivileged beneficiaries via food aids, with essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, eggs, sugar and other essential supplies. They work with various partners, corporate or government agencies with volunteers distributing the donations to the targeted recipients such as poor families, orphanages, old folk homes, soup kitchen and so on.

Another social impact driven that can be seen rising is education category for school children and university students. Their studies and learning are impacted, in which they are no longer can learn at schools or universities in a normal environment. With the direction from Ministry of Education, they are encouraged to learn via digital or online class. Many B40 categories are suffering from online classes because they do not have the luxury to get the access to the internet, which is connectivity and electronic devices, the means to support their studies. Some from poor families need to borrow their parents’ hand phones to follow online classes and it was not convenient if they have siblings needed to share the same device.

Telcos prepare plans to cater B40 communities, so that they can subscribe with affordable packages, in line with the government aspirations to help the students so as not to fall behind from their peers. Not all students can benefit from online teaching. Hence, many campaigns launched to donate laptop or tablet for university students and school children to learn via online studies. These helps are really meaningful for the students to cope with the new learning style. The aids will help reduce the financial burden of the B40 group for their children benefits.

Social driven campaigns help to reduce the financial burden of the underserved communities. By providing some assistance, it helps the beneficiaries to focus on other important things. We can see the positive changes if we look deep enough into their long run future ahead. Access to good food provide them energy to study, to work and to worry less for their families. Access to education, provide them a better path. These young ones are the one who will mould the future of Malaysia. Let them learn in the best possible way to create their own amazing future.

The disparities in healthcare access between urban and rural areas were prevalent, with urban areas typically benefiting from better facilities and resources. This has resulted in unequal health outcomes and access to essential services. In the early years following independence, efforts were focused on addressing the healthcare needs of the population and expanding the healthcare infrastructure, which included the development of new hospitals and clinics in both urban and rur...
