YELLOW FRUITS AND VEGETABLES : Some Food Trivia And Not So Serious "Fact Telling" Yellow Nutrients

 We always refer vegetables as green even from kindergarten. It is easily remembered vegetable is green. When it comes to green, apart from forest, vegetables usually come in mind. Green and vegetables are famously synonymous.

A little bit far behind is the yellow vegetables. So let’s push some “talk” about yellow vegetables and some fruits ya. 


Yellow 101: What are some yellow fruits and vegetables? 

The famous yellow fruits that come to mind instantly would most probably be banana, mango and lemon. But hey, others notably mention would be papaya, star fruit and corn(though there are good “argument” whether corn is fruit, vegetables or grain). Upon quick reading, voilĂ ! It is technically a fruit.  


Not so common but equally worth mention would be pineapple and golden kiwi. As for yellow bell pepper, it is considered a fruit though we always cook and consider it as vegetables too. 


And now, for yellow-orange vegetables that quickly come to mind most likely are carrots, pumpkin, golden beets and yellow potatoes.


Yellow 102: Why they should be in our food intakes? 

On a normal query in Google, results play around ‘benefits of yellow fruits and vegetables’. Now let’s put these yellow actors on stage for some yellow spotlights. Surely there are good contributions to the human health. 

102.1 Boost our immune system

The nutrients in yellow fruits and vegetables help build up our immune system. Antioxidants help neutralise free radicals in our body. Some even name antioxidants as “free radical scavengers”. 

The main “superheroes” in antioxidants worth mention are vitamin C, vitamin E, and carotenoids.

Antioxidants protects our nervous system, lower the risk of cancer and good for the heart too.

102.2 Improve eyesight – oh my eyes

The famous carrot for its beta carotene is so synonym to promote eye vision. Ask a kid what vegetables for eye health, most probably they would say; carrot! It is not incorrect though.

Nevertheless, yellow vegetables and fruits provide lutein and zeaxanthin to protect the eyesight. These food have extra roles for slowing down cataracts and prevent the blue lights from our so many electronic gadgets from harming our eyes further. 

102.3 Smoothing the skin 

Our expose to sunlight make our skin go dull. Eating these yellow food give benefit to the skin. Bioflavonoid with Vitamin C and Vitamin A help fight acne, smooth your skin and slowing down the wrinkles. 

It even help skin problem like dryness and itchiness go away and make your skin radiant and glow. 


Conclusion

Some people consume the fruits or vegetables raw. Some make delicious juices from the great fruits and even use fruits as cooked ingredients.

Colour your meals with yellow fruits and vegetables. Not just they look pretty on plates but somewhat heighten the appetite to consume better meals.  

Our body needs nourishment and consuming healthy food, play a mighty role to  a healthy living. Yellow foods provide you many properties from combating illness such as cancer, heart disease to protecting skin from irritation and inflammation, also essential in immune function and your eyes vision. 

Yellow food, housing  with collagen, antibacterial, and various vitamins A, B, C and E. Not to mention other minerals such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus that your body needs.

We carry out many tasks during the day, and it is only vital that our body needs nutritional intake to maintain a healthy and functioning body. You can now add some yellow-orange colour in your meals.

Sometimes you want to go out but you are so bored with shopping malls and want to do something different. Now here is the place that you should consider to visit if malls are not your outing spot for the weekend. Check out  Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery and I promise it is not a mundane place. Plus point, it is FREE entrance! Can walk in, no longer compulsory to book prior to visit. Only for group booking of more than 20 pax are compulsory. There are 6 galleries to observe and the venue is children friendly. They even have children’s gallery.
